TEK Screws with Hex Head
These screws with their Type 5 self-drilling point drill their own pilot holes and then tap threads to combine two pieces of metal. Drilling and fastening can be done in one single step with a drill machine combined with an 8mm nut setter.
Types available
Tek Screw Coarse Thread
- Can be used to secure IBR or corrugated sheeting to metal roof structures, for example, when building carports.
- The split thread version drills through the IBR sheeting and at the point where it starts to drill through the metal structure below; the break in thread allows it to spin in the sheeting while it drills into the structure.
- Small top section of thread keeps the sheeting intact and prevents movement.
- The Tek screw should be long enough to span the distance from the ridge of the IBR sheeting and be able to screw a sufficient distance into the support structure.
- Class 3 yellow passivation coating makes these screws rust resistant.
- Coarse thread screw can be used with thinner metals (1mm – 5mm).
Tek Screw Long Cut point
- Can be used when fastening sheet metal to thicker pieces of metal.
- The longer cutting point helps to cut into the thicker metal.
- Fine thread screw is ideal for thicker metals ranging between
2mm – 12mm.
- Yellow passivation coating makes these screws rust resistant.
